Frequently Asked Questions
Start with the governing project specification, including any federal, state, municipal, airport, VOC, color, dry-time, or material requirements. Aexcel can help review those requirements and identify products that may be appropriate, but final product approval should follow the project documents and applicable authority
Dry time varies by product, temperature, humidity, surface conditions, film thickness, and application method. Aexcel offers regular-, fast-, quick-, and rapid-dry systems for different reopening requirements. Review the individual product data sheet for tested dry times and application conditions.
Waterborne traffic paint uses water as the primary carrier, while solvent-based traffic paint uses chemical solvents. Waterborne products are often selected for lower VOC requirements, easier cleanup, and projects where environmental considerations are important. Solvent-based products may be preferred for faster drying in certain conditions, strong adhesion, or applications where waterborne coatings are not the best fit.
The right traffic paint depends on the surface, traffic level, climate, application equipment, required dry time, durability expectations, and applicable specifications. Aexcel can help evaluate these factors and recommend the best-fit waterborne, solvent-based, low-VOC, or high-performance system.
